Dewey & LeBoeuf
Dewey & LeBoeuf is a law firm formed in 2007 as a result of the merger between Dewey Ballantine and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae.
Dewey Ballantine started its law office in 1909. It was then known by the name Root, Clark & Bird. Its founders were Grenville Clark, Francis W. Bird and Elihu Root, Jr. Arthur A. Ballantine joined the firm in the 1920s and managed it until the 30s. By 2007, the firm, now known as Dewey Ballantine, had grown to an international law firm with around 500 lawyers in 12 global offices.
LeBoeuf, Lamb, Green & MacRae, on the other hand, was founded in 1929. The firm was called LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae until 1994. With an estimate of over 650 lawyers and 19 offices worldwide, the firm merged with Dewey Ballantine to form what is now known as Dewey & LeBoeuf.
At present, Dewey & LeBoeuf has over 1,400 attorneys in 13 countries around the world. Some of its practice areas include antitrust, bankruptcy, litigation, corporate finance, tax, real estate, structured finance, sports law, international litigation, private equity and mergers and acquisitions. The firm’s industry specializations cover energy and utilities, healthcare, insurance, media, consumer electronics, telecommunications and transportation, and financial services among others.

In 2007, Dewey & LeBoeuf was named 2nd largest law firm in New York in the “100 Largest Private Law Offices” list published by the New York Law Journal. The firm has also been recognized as the “Reinsurance and Insurance Law Firm of the Year” by Reactions magazine for six consecutive years (from 2002 to 2007).
Dewey & LeBoeuf’s current chairman is Steven H. Davis while Morton A. Pierce assists him as the firm’s managing partner. The firm’s headquarters is in New York City.
