International law firm Mayer Brown has a Linked In account showing its impressive history and international office locations in the United States, Asia, Europe, and South America. According to Encyclopedia.com, Mayer Brown used to be called Mayer, Brown, and Platt.
A news release titled “Mayer Brown Is Advising City of Chicago in Landmark Deal to Privatize Midway Airport” reported that the leading international law firm Mayer Brown is representing the City of Chicago in its transaction of leasing the Midway International Airport to a private investor group for $2.5 million, that being the first privatization of a major airport in the history of the United States.
A press release from Mayer Brown titled “Mayer Brown Captures Appellate Victory for Chevy Chase Bank in Closely-Watched Case” described how the international legal firm Mayer Brown brought victory for the Chevy Chase Bank in the Seventh Circuit, which held that reversal of a mortgage may not be awarded to an entire class of borrowers, further stressing that such rescission remedy may only harm both the borrowers and mortgage lenders.

Mayer Brown is teaming up with Johnson Stokes & Master, one of Hong Kong’soldest law firms, known for its stellar reputation in banking and finance, which is also a strength of Mayer Brown.
Editors Blog at Legal Week Blogs publishes an article titled “US firms in London – time to forget Sonnenschein.” According to the blog post, it is worth taking US law firms at their word when they pledge to maintain investment in the Square Mile. The survey found no evidence of scaling back and reported that nearly two thirds of the 51 respondents said they planned to expand by up to 25%. Only Mayer Brown, Reed Smith, Weil Gotshal and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett said that headcount would likely rise by 10% over the next year.
