David Boies

Born on March 11th 1941, David Boies is a prominent lawyer who is the Boies, Schiller & Flexner chairman. He is best known for representing a number of high profile court cases in the US.

David Boies, who was born in Sycamore, Illinois, has four siblings. When he was only 10 years old, he started working a paper route with 120 customers. Since he had dyslexia at an early age, he was not able to read until he reached third grade. By 1954, he and his family moved to California. There, he attended Fullerton Union High School, the University of Redlands and Northwestern University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. He also went to Yale Law School, where he received his LL. B. magna cum laude in 1966 before going on to New York University School of Law for his LL. M, which he received a year later. In 2000, he was given an honorary LL. D. by the University of Redlands.

In addition, David Boies was associated with the Cravath, Swaine & Moore law firm, where he first practiced after graduation from law in 1966. Seven years later, he became one of its partners. In 1997, he departed from the firm and established his own, which he called Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP. The firm recently received praises from legal career information site Vault.com. The firm was recognized for its “overall prestige.”

Today, David Boies serves as one of the members of the National Constitution Center’s board of trustees.
