Frank J. Vecchione

Being a lawyer is not exactly something that Frank J. Vecchione dreamed of becoming when he was still younger. Now at 74, he still does not remember exactly why he did become a lawyer. Initially, he considered a career geared towards journalism before eventually shifting his majors. It proved to be a wise decision since Frank Vecchione is today considered as one of the brightest attorneys focused on Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law.

In a career spanning more than four decades, Frank Vecchione has developed a stellar reputation for his stellar work in representing creditors, debtors and fiduciaries on the brink of filing Chapter 11.

When he was just starting out in the 60s, bankruptcy law was something that was really small time and not as significant as other fields such as criminal law. He worked as a receiver for a firm and also served as the attorney for the cases that he received. Discovering his interest for bankruptcy law, Frank Vecchione pursued this track and is now one of the most respected bankruptcy lawyers in the US.

Frank Vecchione got his JD degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law in 1964. He also taught at Seton Hall when asked by one of the university’s professors to try his hand at teaching debtor-creditor relations. He taught at Seton Hall for 22 years until he resigned in 1990.

He is a recipient of the Christopher Columbus Italian Heritage Award from the Italian Tribune. He was also appointed counsel for Bloomfield College in the 70s when it became the first college to successfully pick itself up after filing for bankruptcy.

Frank Vecchione was also involved in the Chapter 11 case of Marvel Enterprises. He was the lead attorney in the comic book company’s case that featured a variety of interesting issues including intellectual property rights. Frank J. Vecchione is today considered as one of the top lawyers for 2010 by the New York Magazine.
